Healthy Habits for Acne-Prone Skin
Having acne-prone skin is just the worst!
Non-stop pimples, blemishes, pain, irritation, cystic bumps, acne scars, and not to mention low confidence and self-esteem are just some of the effects of having acne-prone skin.
If you have tried numerous methods to resolve your acne problems and none of them work, I would suggest switching some of your daily habits.
Here are some lifestyle changes or habits that can help resolve your acne problems.
Your skin naturally repairs and heals itself while you sleep. Getting fewer hours of sleep will result in less hours to repair your skin. Less sleep also causes your skin to produce more sebum that clogs your pores that causes pimples. Getting 7 to 9 hours of sleep is enough to help you repair your skin.
You are what you eat. Eating deep-fried, instant, processed, and junk food will worsen your acne. Eating oily food will cause your body to produce more sebum. Processed and high refined carbs will boost your insulin that causes changes in your system. Eating whole grains, lean protein, and fresh vegetables will not only improve your skin but will also improve your overall health.
It is essential to be consistent in your skincare routine, especially if you wear makeup. Using makeup can clog your pores and cause pimples. Your skin also accumulates dirt and will cause pimples if you do not at least wash or tone your face before sleeping.
Make sure that you frequently change your pillowcases, makeup brushes, or anything that touches your skin. These can accumulate bacteria and cause your skin to break out. And keeping a clean house or surrounding can also improve your overall and mental health.
Be gentle in treating your skin. Acne-prone skin is usually very sensitive. Using skincare with harsh ingredients can cause more damage to your skin.
Sunscreen is very powerful in protecting your skin against harmful UV rays. Applying sunscreen even on rainy or cloudy days is also recommended. You can also get UV damage from electronics such as your TV, computer monitor, and your phones.
