How to apply your daytime skincare routine
Unless you’re an early bird, waking up is not always the easiest part of the day. And while it’s tempting to trade the few extra minutes it takes to do your skincare routine with a few more minutes of shuteye, taking the time to do so isn’t just an investment in a better morning, but a long term investment in your skin. While your nightly routine is all about repair, your morning routine should be all about protection from the sun, pollution and other irritants you’ll encounter throughout your waking hours. And it’s not just important to apply your products, but to do so in the right order as well as giving them the necessary time to absorb between applications. So if you’re not fully sure which order is correct, here’s a quick reference to help get you started:
Step 1: Cleanser
Your skincare products and makeup work best on a fresh face, so it’s important to start off with a good cleanser. Choosing a gentler one over harsher products will help to prevent your skin barrier from breaking down.
Step 2: Toner
Toner helps to remove any remaining residue on your skin, while tightening your pores. This is a great way to prime your face for your products. Again opt for a gentler, alcohol-free version.
Step 3: Eye Cream
The skin around your eyes is the thinnest on your face, making it the most susceptible to damage caused by sun, pollution and other irritants. Using a good eye cream will help plump and brighten the area, slowing down any signs of aging.
Step 4: Treatment
Consider Vitamin C the superhero sidekick to sunscreen. While the latter helps prevent sun damage and aging, the former is an antioxidant-rich serum that helps to neutralize free radicals and repair the damaged skin cells left behind. Continued daily use will help to reduce fine lines and wrinkles, hyperpigmentation, and inflammation, as well as, even out skin tone, brighten, and promote collagen and elastin production. Using Vitamin C with your Deminuage NanoPen and NanoChips will help to make the serum 20x more effective and give you brighter, smoother, younger looking skin even faster.
Step 6: Moisturizer
Regardless of skin type, moisturizer is an important step because it helps keep skin hydrated and strengthen your skin barrier. Use a lighter moisturizer during the day that won’t interfere with your makeup and apply while skin is still damp.
Step 7: Sunscreen
For the last step, apply a broad spectrum sunscreen. Invest in one with SPF 30 or higher that blocks both UVA and UVB radiation. Since sun damage accounts for 90% of skin’s aging over time, implementing sun protection into your daily routine is not only a necessity, but the most important thing you can do.
